Assisted Living vs Frail Care

Assisted living is also know as supported living. In most cases, a person will live in his or her own unit, but enjoy support from cleaning services, a carer assisting with personal hygiene and the administration of medicine, a registered nurse on 24-hour call and meals.

Frail care is care you need when you are unable to perform activities of daily living, such as eating, personal hygiene and moving about without assistance or when you are no longer able to look after yourself because of physical frailty or mental incapacity.

We have partnered with a local lifestyle estate for seniors over 55 years, where we run a basic Clinic for all residents, as well as provide both assisted and frail care in your own flat / unit / apartment.

There are 6 frail care units that are available on a rental basis. The patient is encouraged to bring their own furniture and pictures so that they feel at home and comfortable in the environment. There is a chef on the property to cater for the changing needs of the frail care patient. We will provide 24-hour nursing care. The estate is secure and easily accessible and within a kilometer of the closest private hospital and is within walking distance to a lovely small Woolworths for those yummy treats.

The Clinic will provide the following basic services: –

  • Can accommodate those requiring frail care, as well as post hospital recuperation.
  • Temporary stay available
  • Respite assistance when the families need a break or are going on holiday
  • We can nurse patients with tracheostomies and all different feeding methods.
  • Palliative care
  • End of life care

Our frail care facilities are situated in the outer west areas of Durban, including Hillcrest, Kloof, Everton, Gillitts Assegay, Bothas Hill and Waterfall Durban
